ABOUT THE TRAINING INSTITUTE

Founded in 1972, the mission of the National Women’s Political Caucus is to Recruit Train Elect pro-choice women to public office. Despite significant progress, recent election years clearly demonstrate that women remain underrepresented in elected positions.

We realize the importance of education to succeed in any position. The Training Institute founded in 2021, as an arm of NWPC-STL, to support a vital initiative: training women to run for public office and fostering their leadership in our communities. We provide comprehensive training programs that empower women with the skills, confidence, and resources necessary to launch a winning campaign for office. Additionally, we provide opportunities that mentor candidates with experienced leaders.

We are thrilled to share some highlights of our achievements over the past year:

Empowering Success: Over the past 12 months, our institute has trained 30 candidates who have never run for office before, helping them build the self-confidence and techniques needed to run a campaign.

Looking Ahead: While we are proud of our accomplishments, we know there is still much work to do. Our vision for the future includes expanding our programs, reaching more individuals in need, and continuing to provide top-notch training that leads to success on election day.

Innovative Programs: We have introduced new and innovative training programs, such as our Training Series. These are weekly, one-hour, deep-dive courses on Zoom addressing subjects such as Fundraising; Messaging; and Volunteers: How to Get Them and How to Use Them. Since this program is virtual, we are now able to reach many rural districts that do not have local campaign training. These rural areas are dominated by anti-choice, male office holders.

OUR FOUNDING MOTHERS

Betty Renee Marver and Vivian Eveloff were more than just visionary leaders. They were also our friends, mentors, and inspirations to all who knew them. Their journey in establishing the Training Institute of NWPC-STL was driven by the belief that it is essential for pro-choice women to have a seat at the table where decisions are made that affect our lives!

The Board of Directors of the Training Institute were honored when both families designated The Training Institute of NWPC-STL to receive donations in their honor.
